Over the months,I have been reading and yes!Bizarrely,an A-level(non-lit) student here can actually spend SOME time to read books,non-academic books!Proved the saying wrong~But basically,it's right.Now that I got used to it that I find it difficult to dump this habit of reading everytime before I sleep,even an evening nap.It's fun,read read and read then just off the light and sleep.I CAN'T SLEEP WITHOUT READING!Reading will always go with lying for me.
1.The Memory Keeper's Daughter,by Kim Edward - This was nice.About a couple,this doctor as the husband gave birth to their twins and later found out that the girl had Down Syndrome while the boy was perfect.He gave the daughter out,actually was this nurse,hence the memory keeper,I think.Stories developed and so.Kind of romance and heart-provoking.6/10.
2.Pollyana - This was fun.About this always-positive girl who lost both her parents and was make to live with her ferocious aunt.She eventually influenced every single residents in the town including her fussy aunt with this so-called ''glad game''.Everyone just loved her.She just managed to find something to be glad about in every life-not-good or good matters.Until even when she lost her leg one day.Too bad,Phebe didn't have Pollyana II.7/10.
3.The Teardrop Story Woman,by Catherine Lim - Quite nice.Romance-kind of.About this girl,in spite of being Chinese and female; in spite of the unlucky teardrop-mole blemish on her beauty; in spite of family expectations, rejection by her father,the self-serving exploitation of her brother, and the attentions of predatory males,Mei Kwei manages to make her own decisions and,to a large extent,carry them out.The story revolved during the British time in Malaya,thus it's interesting with all those Asian,Chinese culture.Sexist era?Heh.8/10.
4.Twilight - !!!Hell,I actually read this,no joke.It's great to read books,cause movies are really rubbish.Same goes to Harry Potter.There's so much of fun reading the whole book and then watching the movie.Believe me,just try.But the whole plot was expanded with dialogues,lots of dialogues or it's just dialogues.Hard to tell,but it's first point of view(Bella).Stephenie Meyer was SO successful in monopolising the love between Edward and Bella.It's great,I can't explain but believe,just read.Psst,you'll know what would happen next in the movie and you can tell how they cut the story,massively.9/10.
5.The Silver Bay,by Jojo Moyes - Hah!Gave up on this after few pages.Couldn't find the interesting part.Sharks,fishing,ocean and romance,again?Sorry Phebs,just bring me crime-solving thriller for next.1/10.
6.Do not sit on this book - All about Chinese taboos.5/10.
